Public Transport

By car

From the direction of Italy (Trieste, Ljubljana), you can reach Maribor via the A1 motorway, then take the route toward Murska Sobota, continuing on the E653 road, which also leads to Lendava. To continue to the Croatian towns of Čakovec and Varazdin, you should choose the local roads that lead toward the border crossings in Središče ob Dravi, Gibina, Razkrižje or Hotiza.

From the direction of Austria (Vienna, Graz), you can reach Maribor via the E57 and E59 motorways, then take the route toward Murska Sobota, continuing on the E653 road, which also leads to Lendava. To continue to the Croatian towns of Čakovec and Varazdin, you should choose the local roads that lead toward the border crossings in Središče ob Dravi, Gibina, Razkrižje or Hotiza.

From the direction of Hungary (Budapest), take the E71 motorway toward the Pince border crossing and from there you can continue to Murska Sobota, and then on to Maribor on the E653 road. If you wish to go directly to Čakovec or Varazdin, divert to the A4 motorway and cross the border at the Goričan border crossing.

From the direction of Croatia (Zagreb), you can take the A4 motorway to Čakovec or Varazdin or the E59 motorway to Maribor. To reach Murska Sobota, you should choose local roads. You can cross the Slovenia-Croatia border at the following border crossings – Središče ob Dravi, Gibina, Razkrižje or Hotiza.

 

By train

The train network is well connected and can, without any hassle, take you to most cities and smaller towns. On account of the expansion of the rail network and the short distances, it is also recommended to travel by train through the surrounding countryside.

 

By bus

By plane

Although the region has no local airport to allow regular flights to here, there are Slovenian and Croatian airports nearby as well as airports in neighbouring countries that enable easy and quick access.
